Never a Tear
I look across the sunlit sky
I think of you, but I won't cry.
I see your face, and I see your smile
It stops the tears. Just for a while.
Your heart, your soul, united as one:
Always known in your mind, what must be done.
And what's this? A faint reflection on this water's edge!
It's not me, it's you.
You're giving me your loving pledge.
You might be two thousand miles away.
But I think of you.
We'll meet some day.
It's Love Or
Perhaps it is kindness, or a hug before sleep
Or a note on your pillow
Just before you go to bed.
Is it just a smile when it's all gone wrong,
Or a cheerful 'hello' in that crowded empty room?
A special handshake, a connection of the eyes, and a feeling of belonging
But belonging to a world of just two people; ruled equally, and as friends.
Or maybe a thought, in that queue, of the other, somewhere else
But the thought of seeing them before the sun sets and the day closes
Means the most.
It could be something unique? Defining? Changing or Magical?
It connects two people: the need to be together, to redefine oneanother
To champion, to wonder in amazement, and to respect every word.
Or is it Love?
Fireman
His pulsating siren of pain
But it's all in his head. He's only asleep.
A day at a time, that smell, when he has to,
the fire, some smoke. There's no fire without smoke.
She was dead. She lived for 30 seconds, years
But she was dead for more. Stone dead.
We guess the smoke has her soul
It will never escape. It's burnt, and there's no air.
So his night comes to an end: an awakening
The start of a new day?
Another woman, maybe her kids
Their skulls. Or ash.
But will I ever escape from reality?
Because maybe next time, she'll live.
Liebe
Ich denk an dich an tag und nacht,
Ich denk an dich, weil ich dich mag.
Ich denk an dich, ich hab dich gern
Ich liebe dich:
Du bist mein Stern.
